Linton Crystal Technologies Sponsors Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience

Students Will Earn College Credit, OSHA 10 Certification

Linton Crystal Technologies has made a donation to Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES (W-FL BOCES) to sponsor the Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience (SAME) program. SAME is a free, three-week opportunity that enables eighth and ninth grade students to experience first-hand advanced manufacturing skills while earning college credits. The program is presented by W-FL BOCES, in partnership with Finger Lakes Community College. It will be held at the Wayne Technical and Career Center from July 5 through 22.

“As a global company with clients in the solar and semiconductor industries, we see an enormous demand increase in multiple countries, and programs like SAME are vital in introducing young students to potential career opportunities in engineering, manufacturing and related industries,” says Todd Barnum, president and COO of Linton. “W-FL BOCES students graduate prepared to work in positions within companies that are vital parts of our whole solar and semiconductor supply chain. Being part of introducing eighth and ninth graders to these opportunities will potentially help grow that workforce in the future.”

Linton’s donation will provide students in SAME free tuition for college credits in SST 116, a 3-credit course “Introduction to Careers in High-Tech Ecosystems” from Finger Lakes Community College. It will also give students the opportunity to earn OSHA 10 certification, which provides basic training about common safety and health hazards on the job. W-FL BOCES has presented the SAME program to eighth and ninth grade students each summer since 2016. This is the first year the organization is partnering with Linton.

Located in Henrietta, Linton is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of Czochralski silicon furnaces for production of monocrystalline silicon ingots for the semiconductor and solar industries. The company specializes in silicon and produces equipment for materials such as germanium and gallium arsenide. They also provide technical support, process engineering support and replacement parts to help clients get businesses off the ground, improve productivity and continue to innovate. Linton has been the exclusive owner of Kayex technology since 2013.
