Linton Crystal Technologies has hired Software Engineer Yiliang Shi to support the company’s advancements in machine learning and automation. Linton is the world leader in the design, development, and manufacture of Czochralski (CZ) furnaces for producing monocrystalline ingots. Shi joined the company on November 23.

Her responsibilities include designing, programming, and testing state-of-the-art enhancements to the crystal growing systems’ process control software through the use of industrial image processing and machine learning techniques. As part of the company’s cross-functional engineering team, she’ll also work to identify new product concepts.

A graduate of the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Shi earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance and her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, the latter with honors. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Computer Science from Columbia University. Shi was lead author of the paper, "A Command-Level Study of Linux Kernel Bugs,” and co-authored, “Deep Neural Inspection Using DeepBase.”

Linton Crystal Technologies specializes in silicon and produces equipment for materials such as germanium and gallium arsenide. They also provide technical support, process engineering support, and replacement parts to help clients get businesses off the ground, improve productivity, and continue to innovate.
