Linton Crystal Technologies’ 300mm CZ Furnace is Ready for Customer Demos in Rochester, NY

Linton Crystal Technologies today announced it is cooling the superconducting magnet on its KX320/300MCZ machine in Rochester, New York, and is taking appointments for demonstration runs for customers. The KX320 is a Czochralski (CZ) process crystal grower designed to meet growing market demands for a furnace capable of producing semiconductor grade 300mm crystals. Customers can now schedule appointments to see the grower in operation at Linton and speak with sales and process experts.

“Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, members of Congress from both parties, bipartisan national security officials and experts from the semiconductor industries have all increasingly argued for final passage of the Bipartisan Innovation Act. This significant support makes us hopeful that semiconductor manufacturing will soon be able to return to the United States,” says Todd Barnum, president and COO of Linton. “We’re excited to be able to host customers at our U.S. facility to see the grower in operation at this critical time—as they look to invest in the domestic supply chain.”

KX320/300MCZ is a state-of-the-art 300 mm furnace. It combines all of Linton’s newest hardware and software innovations in one system, including the latest melt-gap measurement and control and an AI-based automatic facet detection feature. The KX320/300MCZ is also capable of accommodating Linton’s patent-pending Crucible Handling System (CHS) and Seed Lift Active Balancing System, as well as its patented Seed Lift and Rotating System.

“This is our most advanced system yet,” says John R. Syring, senior sales and process engineer with Linton. “We’re looking forward to demonstrating it in our facility and discussing customers’ specific needs and applications.”

Linton was the first company to introduce a 300 mm furnace in 1997. This new generation, the KX320/300MCZ complete grower system, is optimized for producing 300 mm crystals with a 1300 mm furnace size. It’s 3500 mm-high receiving chamber can accommodate 32-inch crucibles and it has a motorized shield lift. The KX320/300MCZ comes with a 4,000-gauss superconducting magnet. It also features low power consumption and integrated communications with the optional proprietary WINGS system, which was recently enhanced to give customers more flexibility in how they manage and save data. Additionally, Linton staff work with clients at the time of sale to customize each furnace as necessary to meet their organization or industry requirements.
